So, I did a little research and used a little trial and error and WHA LA! an all-natural, chemical-free laminate floor cleaner that dries super fast, smells great and makes my beautiful laminate floors shine.
Ready for the recipe? You'll be shocked at how simple this is.
A spray bottle
3/4 C Vinegar
1/2 C Rubbing Alcohol
1 tsp liquid Castile Soap
15 drops essential oils (I used Orange, lemon and a smidge of peppermint)
Are you ready for this? Pour all ingredients into an empty spray bottle. I reused my old floor cleaner bottle (after washing it out well, of course!)
Now fill the bottle to the neck with plain water and shake well.
About the Ingredients
If you didn't already know it, vinegar is the best natural cleaner there is, and it fights germs and odors. It literally does it all--well almost. And, I promise, once it dries, there is absolutely no vinegar smell!
Rubbing alcohol evaporates really quickly, meaning your floor will dry much faster, which is priority numero uno in a laminate floor spray, am I right?
A little soap helps break down any grease or grim buildup on the floor. I always useliquid castile soap because it is a much more natural product. You could use dish soap, I suppose. I guess it depends on how toxic free you are wanting to go. :-)
Finally, the essential oils. You could use any oils you have on hand, really, they pretty much all have antibacterial properties, according to studies. I like the scent of the citrus with just a hint of peppermint. Plus, the lemon helps fight grime!
Note: If your oils are diluted in carrier oil, you'll need to add more drops to get the same effectiveness as pure, unadulterated oil. I would double or triple the amount. Just something to keep in mind. :-)
Just spray your floor lightly and mop it up. I really like my Bona Microfiber Floor Mop. See? There it is to the right of your page. It comes with microfiber cleaning pad and a super soft microfiber dusting pad. Just stay away from the cleaner. Too many chemicals!
